We are Jenna and Mark, a designer and pastry chef living in Brooklyn, NY and parents of two little girls. We are also owners of Whimsy & Spice, a Brooklyn confectionery. Sweet Fine Day is a visual record of business and family life in NYC and a journal of projects both in and out of the kitchen.

What to do when it’s cold and rainy and you’ve got 2 restless kids and loads of leftover batter from a recent cupcake order? Have a cupcake tea party, of course (baked without wrappers because Mia likes to EAT them, ugh). We let the girls loose on a few dozen cupcakes and loads of sprinkles to do what they wish. Mia took to the task meticulously, decorating each one carefully while Claudine’s style was to pile on as many sprinkles as possible onto one cupcake. It looked like a lot of cupcakes but somehow, they all disappeared within 2 days.

Oh, how precious! how sweet! and i’m not talking about the cupcakes. Miss C looks like a flower petal with long lashes and kissing lips! I love how her lips just pucker up! How sweet to look at sisters! AHHHHH!

Oooh, bad gramma! I didn’t have the tea party with them in December and, wouldn’t you know it, Mia has not forgotten! I hear she’s tasked Lara with picking up where I left off, but I would like to redeem myself when I come next month. Try to have some leftover batter when I’m there, OK? Thanks!
